Causes of death, Eurostat shortlist
-
-
Classification of causes of death (European shortlist of 86 causes of death, 2012) used by the European Statistical Bureau (Eurostat).
-
The classification replaces the national classification with 72 categories previously used in the statistics. The former classification was based on Eurostat’s previous ‘European shortlist 1998’ with 65 categories, which was discarded in 2014.
-
The classification includes the ICD-10 classification’s main categories and groups formed on the basis of the 3-digit level of the ICD-10 classification. Sequelae of violence are linked to the groups concerned with the help of the 4-digit level. The ICD-10 codes belonging to the categories are listed after the categories.
