Building costs rose by 0.2 per cent in May year-on-year

According to Statistics Finland, building costs rose by 0.2 per cent in May 2017 compared with the previous year's May. The prices of materials went up by 1.2 per cent and those of services remained on level with the previous year. The prices of labour inputs in construction fell by one per cent compared with May of the previous year. The fall in the prices of labour inputs is explained by lower social security costs compared with 2016.

Long term development of the Building Cost Index

From April to May, the total index of building costs rose by 0.2 per cent. The prices of materials rose by 0.3 per cent from the previous month. The prices of labour inputs and services remained unchanged from the previous month.
