Finland's preliminary population figure 5,535,605 at the end of November

According to Statistics Finland's preliminary data, Finland's population was 5,535,605 at the end of November. Our country's population increased by 10,313 persons during January-November. The reason for the increase was migration gain from abroad, since immigration exceeded emigration by 17,547. The number of births was 7,410 lower than that of deaths.

During January-November, 42,776 children were born, which is 742 higher than in the corresponding period in 2019. The number of deaths was 50,186, which is 998 higher than one year earlier.

According to the preliminary statistics for November, 28,299 persons immigrated to Finland from abroad in January-November and 10,752 persons emigrated from Finland. The number of immigrants was 2,344 lower and the number of emigrants 5,182 lower than in the corresponding period of the previous year. In all, 8,632 of the immigrants and 7,121 of the emigrants were Finnish citizens.

According to the preliminary data, the number of inter-municipal migrations totalled 274,346 during January-November. Compared with the corresponding period in 2019, the increase was 9,542 migrations according to the municipal division of 2020.
